If you've done Vineman 1/2 before, then you know logistically, it can be a pain in the butt. Wheels On Wheels is going to help eliminate some of that pain for you. First, we will be at the Expo with the trailer all day, so you can pick up your bike the same time you pick up your race packet. Or if you want to just pick it up, go for a short ride and then drop it off with us. Second, we will be at Guernville the morning of the race so you don't have to drag your bike down there. I park right across the street from the transition so you can leave your bike with us until race morning. Third, right after the race starts, I load things up and head out to T2. At the end of the race, I'll be in the parking lot of the High School that you finish at. You'll see me on the side of the road when you first come in the parking lot on the right hand side. After you finish your race, you'll bring your bike to the trailer, as soon as I get the last bike, off we go. As a Special offer to Breakaway Training Clients, I normally charge $150.00 per bike, but with a minimum of 5 participants, I will only charge $100.00 per bike. http://www.wheelsonwheels.com/Biketransport/BTransport.htm if you fill out the Boarding Pass as normal, in the section where it ask’s for bib number, just put in Breakaway Training.

ISAAC - "The Best Bike I ever rode" THE ISAAC STORY – Isaac was formed in 2001 as a provider of carbon-composite forks and components. The name was taken from Isaac Newton, the inspiration for its technological direction. Isaac’s innovations were truly pioneering. The range of forks quickly found favor with frame manufacturers in several countries.
In late 2001 Isaac began initial development of a specialist carbon-monocoque frameset. This wind-tunnel developed project became the Joule, which was previewed as a prototype at the autumn shows of 2002. At about this time Isaac was registered in Britain as a totally independent limited company, wholly owned by its British and German directors. New premises were obtained in Germany as a base for Isaac’s technical-development personnel, stock handling and international distribution – while the financial side was conducted from Isaac’s offices in Britain. Isaac, at this point, decided on Torayca, the world’s foremost supplier of structural aerospace-quality carbon yarn, as a sole source for the primary raw materials.
The Joule was released in 2003, and quickly became established as “the” time-trial and triathlon frameset. Isaac had already begun development of a road-racing frameset. Named the Force, this model’s unique metal seat stays set it apart from any other, and proved to provide unrivalled mechanical performance in independent testing. Isaac then began distributing across the globe. Further models were developed during 2004. In addition, the Pascal full carbon, a completely new Isaac design, was added as a base model. At the other end of the range, the new Impulse provided astounding mechanical performance for a true sub-kilo frame. These developments allowed Isaac to present a full range of seven high-performance carbon, competition-frameset models for 2005. For 2006 Isaac continues to advance and innovate with a complete and diverse range of highly specialist models – all including Isaac’s original features. Isaac is one of the few “pure carbon” brands, and is perhaps unique in that all of its frame models carry the highly regarded, and totally independent, EFBe fatigue test ratings. Isaac’s key innovations are now finding their way into the industry in general. Isaac is flattered by this obvious complement to its technologically pioneering achievements. I am donating the funds from the May 7th Spring Sprint to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition because my French sister and several friends are currently undergoing a long chemotherapy treatments in hopes of eradicating this disease from their bodies. Then, too, most of you know that I have been insulin dependent diabetic for 27 years, so I am donating funds from the May 21st Encinitas triathlon to the American Diabetes Association. A donation of $5 or $10 will help both of these causes, and the American Diabetes Association is instrumental in SD in helping form the private stem cell research company call Resource, a cause I desperately believe in at this time. If you wish to make a donation to either of these efforts, you can write a check to: National Ovairan Cancer Coalition and/or American Diabetec Association. You can mail your donation to me, and I will send the donations in as a group donation; both causes are tax deductible.

Polar is the New Breakaway Training Sponsor for 2006/2007 WHY HEART RATE MONITORS: As a triathlete, you understand the benefits that technology can offer. Titanium frames, aero bars and scientific nutrition are advancements that have shaped the sport for the last 15 years. But there is one thing that has been around the sport even longer. A heart rate monitor.
To understand how an HRM can help you, we established the Polar 3 Point Message: In order to reach your goals, you need to train at the right intensity. Heart rate is the only accurate measurement of your intensity or your exertion level.
A Polar HRM is the easiest and most accurate way to continuously measure your heart rate. If you're not using one, you probably train with someone who does. You may have resisted until now, and hopefully that will end here. There are many different thoughts on how to prepare for a triathlon, whether Olympic distance, Ironman, or just a sprint. Two of the most famous triathletes of all time actually have very different approaches to training. Mark Allen and Dave Scott have adapted their own way of preparing themselves and their trainees for competition. But there is one thing that their training programs have in common. They both rely on heart rate monitors as a critical part of their program.
Sold yet? Just open a Triathlete or Inside Triathlon magazine and you are bound to find an article on heart rate training. But, you have to experience the benefits of an HRM yourself. If you're very new to the concept of an HRM, you might be wondering WHAT'S AN HRM. It consists of a watch worn on your wrist, and a transmitter that you comfortably wear against your skin and around your chest. The transmitter picks up the signals of your heart, and sends them wirelessly to the watch you wear on your wrist. It's that simple. No wires, no taking your pulse and doing a multiplication equation. Just look at your wrist and it's there. AND THE KEY, IT'S DISPLAYED CONTINUOUSLY. The continuous display is what makes it effective. It's there to guide you during your entire workout.
The HRM is like a coach that guides you through each workout. For endurance workouts, it paces you so you don't overdo it. For tempo runs, it keeps you on track. And for interval workouts, it makes sure you go hard enough and you recover when it's time. Nothing else can guide you that way. It can show you when you are dehydrating, or running out of nutrition, or not recovered from a previous day's workout. It allows you to analyze workouts and races so you can identify your weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Your titanium frame is great, but if you're not training the right way, it may as well be made out of lead. www.polarusa.com

The Best Place to Eat after a Hard Workout :
THE MUSEUM CAFELocated at the north-east side of the building in La Jolla, the Museum Cafe is a delightful place to bring your friends for a light meal or relaxing cappuccino. The cafe at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla changed hands a few times before Brekaway Training Member Guiseppe Ciuffa took over its operation. Since then, not only has Ciuffa and his talented executive chef Matt Meritod transformed the intimate eatery into a delightful spot for museum visitors, they have made the Museum Cafe one of the most pleasant places in town for a leisurely lunch. The Museum Cafe is at 700 Prospect St. Call (858) 456-6427 for information.
