"He's like no one we've ever known, but he's all we aspire to be".

I personally feel that we should all do our part to help support those in need. I personally know many of you involved with C.A.F. (Challenged Athlete's Foundation) and other's involved with other charities and organizations. Hat's off to you that you're doing something to make a difference. However, my heart goes out to the C.A.F., and if you haven't heard of or seen Emmanuel's Gift, I encourage everyone to do so.

It doesn't matter which organization you contribute to, but after seeing this, it will touch your heart, and help inspire you to do even more if possible and help us understand more about ourselves and why we do what we do. I know it did for me, that's why I am now selling Emmanuel's Gift DVD for only $20.00, I will donate ALL proceeds back to C.A.F. as my contribution back to a worthy cause, and you'll get something in return that will touch your hearts and you can share with others.

If you don't want to buy it but would still like to see it, I will also rent it for $5.00, and if you don't want to do that, come down to my shop and have a cup of coffee and watch it here for FREE. Whatever you decide, I just recommend you seeing Emmanuel's Gift. If you need to learn more about this before making a decision, please visit the website http://www.emmanuelsgift.com

Call or send me an email at dplummer@wheelsonwheels.com if you'd like me to ship it to you for an additional $5.00.

HAWAII - KONA 06/03 RACE DAY !

Wow! what a day. Well our race day in Hawaii has now come and gone. As far as results go it was mixed day, but as we all know this thing that we do is not about results, it is about giving everything you've got. Driving up to Hapuna Beach this morning with dawn breaking and the mountains of Maui in the background we started our quest on the Big Island.

Summary of the weather was hot, but not too hot. However it was very windy. The swim was like being in a washing machine. Very choppy. Tom decided to try and swim to Japan but was encouraged to make the sane choice and go for the beach. This cost him fifteen minutes. Felipe is out of the water and get's to T1 to find out he has a flat. Loses twelve minutes before he's even on the bike. To top off his day during the very hot windy (in your face) climb to Hawi he get's stung by a wasp. If he had not lost those twelve minutes at T1 he likely would have won a spot in the Ironman. Rosanna's time was just under six hours. Another stellar performance on her part especially given the difficult conditions. Way to go Rosanna. Tom had his first ever DNF. He lost 45 minutes with a locked up rear wheel before help arrived. He tried to make up some time on the climb to Hawi but promtly hurled four miles from the turn around. Another fifteen minutes lost. Not to mention his adventure in swimming. All this adds up to missing the bike cutoff of 5:30.

I don't want to forget to mention how important it was for Amy, Kirsten and Summer to cheer us on today. They were out there in the hot sun all day for us and we love them for it.

We'll be posting more pictures the next day or two. For now it is time to relax and just be on vacation. Pizza, beach and beer are on the agenda. Monday we are off to the volcanos.

REST DAY !

Thursday, June 1
HAWAII - KONA 06/01

After our short run and swim, Chicken Little prepared the most POTENT of protein pancakes--which will undoubtedly prove effective come race day. The crew then proceeded to Mauna Lani to register. Afterwards the overly excited athletes headed towards Hawi to take a sneak peek of the (mostly uphill) course. After our fabulous lunch at Bamboo Restaurant in Hawi, we ended our adventure with homemade Macadamia Nut ice-cream (YUM!!!). A distburing twist to our amazing day occurred as Chicken Little turned on her own and prepared a sacrificial feast--as we know she would do just about anything for her friends!
