With a calm bay swim and a flat bike and run course, the Spring Sprint is the perfect race to kick off your season. Whether you are an experienced triathlete or duathlete preparing for the season, or a first timer looking for a fun race to participate in, the Moores UCSD Cancer Center Spring Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon on Mission Bay is for you.

On Saturday, May 3, 2008 there will be a 1 mile luminary walk to raise awareness for all those who have lost loved ones or have friends and family being treated with cancer.

This race started with a vision from Dr. Tony Reid, Director of Clinical Investigation, Department of hematology/Oncology. Dr Reid understands all patients going through Cancer are doing their ”Personal Best “ as are athletes competing in sports such as triathlons. Dr Reid had this vision to put both groups together and raise awareness of each others plight. The ultimate goal of the 1st Annual Moores UCSD Cancer Center Spring Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon is raise money to benefit the Clinical Trails Department of the Cancer Center.

The Moores UCSD Cancer Center Spring Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon is hoping to become a major fund raiser for the Cancer Center in years to come.
